Dunnings Squash & Racketball Club appoint Ryan Leisure Activities as their new Club Sponsor
Dunnings Squash & Racketball Club, part of East Grinstead Sports Club, are pleased to announce an exciting new partnership with squash court and sports flooring specialists Ryan Leisure Activities Ltd.
The partnership will see Ryan Leisure Activities support DSRC with various squash activities and initiatives throughout the season, to help raise the profile of squash and encourage participation rates within the local area. Ryan Leisure Activities will also be sole sponsors of the DSRC England Squash & Racketball sanctioned Junior Squash Open 2015 taking place next February, which proved a great success last year.
Colin Dickinson, Managing Director of Ryan Leisure Activities commented on the partnership: ‘We’re thrilled to be supporting Dunnings Squash & Racketball Club this year and sponsoring the Junior Cup later in the season. It’s been a very exciting year for squash following the positive coverage from the Commonwealth Games, we want to do our bit to help raise the profile of the sport and encourage more youngsters to participate from an early age.’
In addition to the sponsorship, Dunnings Squash and Racketball Club have been awarded a Big Lottery Fund Awards for All grant to implement the Squashing Barriers project. This initiative has been set up to run fitness and healthy living sessions for young people in the East Grinstead area. The club will work with local primary schools to provide youngsters, who may be living a sedentary lifestyle, with exercise through an introduction to squash programme and to learn about healthy diets and lower the risk of obesity related illnesses.
Jeff Morris, chairman of DSRC is very pleased with the award and said “I see this as an opportunity for us to introduce youngsters who may not be currently engaged in sport to try squash as a sport and to think about how exercise can give them a healthier lifestyle now and as they grow up. Whether they take up squash as a sport in the medium term is less important, the aim is to introduce them to exercise and encourage them to take part in one or two of the many exercise and sporting opportunities that we are so lucky to have in the East Grinstead area.”
DSRC moved to East Grinstead Sports Club in September 2012 after its former commercially owned home in Dunnings Road, East Grinstead was demolished for residential development. The players of the former Dunnings Mill Squash & Health Club, formed Dunnings Squash & Racketball Club to ensure squash & racketball leagues continued to run and to maintain the profile of the sport within the East Grinstead area.
After receiving funding from England Squash & Racketball, Mid Sussex District Council and others, Dunnings appointed Courtwall Innovations in 2012 to design and install three new squash courts which included glassback walls & doors, LED lighting, acoustic ceiling and the unique Courtwall wall panel systems.
Jeff Morris, Chairman of both Dunnings Squash & Racketball Club and East Grinstead Sports Club commented on the new courts ‘Our Courtwall Innovation courts look fantastic and we believe provide some of the best squash court playing facilities in the UK.’
Ryan Leisure Activities have since become the sole UK agents for Courtwall Innovation so are best placed to offer specialist advice and support with the courts and facilities at DSRC. As part of the partnership, Ryan Leisure recently worked with the members at DSRC to clean the unique Courtwall wall panels, making them look as good as new in less than an hour!
