DSRC Junior Bronze ESR Sanctioned Squash Tournament
Last weekend saw Dunning’s Squash and Racketball Club, based at East Grinstead Sports Centre, host their second England Squash sanctioned junior squash event.
60 juniors entered across the six age categories of under 13/15/17 Boys and Girls. Players came from as far afield as Hampshire and Dorset.
Saturday was a very busy day with over 40 matches being played over 3 of the categories. The culmination of the Saturday decided who went through to the semi-finals on the Sunday.
Sunday also saw the start of the girls events in the 3 categories. The day consisted of 40 matches with all the finals being played in the afternoon for all age groups.
Girls Under 13 – Winner: Flo Edwards (DSRC), R/up: Amy Campbell-Wynter (Dorset)
Girls Under 15 – Winner: Torrie Malik (Sussex), R/up: Natalie Chak
Girls Under 17 – Winner: Beth Currid (DSRC), R/up: Yemaya Phillips-Smith (Hampshire)
Boys Under 13 – Winner: Luca Campbell-Wynter (Dorset), R/up: Ethan Chak
Boys Under 15 – Winner: Luke Credland (Sussex), R/up: David Sanches
Boys Under 17 – Winner: Will Rowe (Sussex), R/up: Cam Baker (Sussex)
The standard of squash across both days was of the highest level and the maturity shown by all players in both defeat and success was of the highest order.
